A 14-year-old boy led police on a wild chase in a hijacked car on the streets of Harris County before crashing, authorities said. The teen refused to pull over when deputies tried to stop the stolen vehicle in the 13200 block of Jones Road on January 12, according to Constable Mark Herman's Office.
The young driver, who has not been named due to his minor status, attempted to evade the officers, sparking a chase that ended when he lost control and crashed the vehicle. "The juvenile was arrested and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center, charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle," Constable Mark Herman stated in a Facebook post. No injuries were reported from the incident.
Details about the juvenile's motives and the circumstances leading to the theft of the vehicle remain unclear. The authorities have yet to release further information. Meanwhile, the teen remains in detention, awaiting the next steps in a legal process that will determine his future.
