An ordinary traffic stop took a dramatic turn on a Houston boulevard when a deputy unearthed a stash of drugs and guns inside a driver's vehicle. The arrest unraveled in the 13600 block of TC Jester Blvd. where a deputy with Constable Mark Herman's Special Operations Unit pulled over Samuel McMahaon for a yet-to-be-specified traffic violation on January 9, according to the precinct's social media update.
McMahaon's behavior immediately sent red flags waving as he reportedly appeared "very nervous" during the stop, fumbling with his words as he made involuntary confessions about possessing weapons and drugs. It wasn't long before the K9 unit was on the scene alerting officers to the scent of narcotics, leading to a probable cause search of the vehicle. Deputies struck illicit gold, finding 1,033 grams of methamphetamine, .5 ounces of marijuana, and two loaded handguns tucked away inside McMahaon's ride, as per the official Precinct 4 Facebook page.
The discoveries handcuffed McMahaon to a series of charges including Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon. He has a bail of $50,100.00, the number set as his total bond by the 184th District Court and County Court 2. The hefty sum mirrors the severity of the accusations stacked against the suspect following the traffic stop turned drug bust.
Constable Mark Herman, after the arrest, branded the confiscation a win for the community, saying, “Samuel McMahaon was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon. His total bond was set at $50,100.00 out of the 184th District Court and County Court 2."
