HOUSTON — In a disturbing display of recklessness, a man was found dozing at the wheel of his car, which was parked perilously in a moving lane of traffic on West Road. According to Constable Mark Herman's Office, deputies arrived at the 16900 block on January 13, following reports of the unconscious driver.
Upon rousing the slumbering motorist, identified as Alexis Gomez, officers observed numerous indications that he was under the influence. A set of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests culminated in a grim affirmation of their suspicions, confirming Gomez was indeed intoxicated while at the controls of his vehicle.
Further investigation by the deputies brought an additional charge to the fore, as Gomez was found to be in possession of cocaine. Constable Mark Herman's office highlighted the incident and the ensuing actions, stating, "Alexis Gomez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Possession of a Controlled Substance." The details concerning Gomez's bond and court dates remain pending.
