Speeding down the Northwest Freeway like a shot, a man's need for speed landed him behind bars, facing weapons charges to boot. Juanpablo Tellez Daza was pulled over and promptly arrested by deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office during a traffic stop for racing on December 29, 2023, in the 28000 block of the Northwest Freeway. It turned out that Daza's ride was packing more heat than just horsepower—a handgun was found in his possession.
According to a statement from Constable Mark Herman on Facebook, "Juanpablo Tellez Daza was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for Racing on Highway and Unlawful Carry of Weapon." The lead footed driver had his total bond set at a mere $200.00 out of County Court 10, suggesting either a leniency in the law's eyes, or a misjudgment of the seriousness racing the public roads while armed presents.
The brief and to-the-point notice didn't disclose additional details about the racing incident or whether anyone else was involved or put at risk.
