
A woman has been hit with murder charges following a deadly shooting at a Houston gas station, police said. Shayla Monique Washington, 35, is accused of gunning down 47-year-old Joseph Williams on Saturday evening outside a gas station located at 3821 Old Spanish Trail, according to the Houston Police Department.
The incident occurred around 8:05 p.m., and officers were alerted by a motorist who came upon the scene. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department arrived and found Williams unresponsive near the gas pumps, where they subsequently pronounced him dead, according to the official release from the Houston Police Department.
Washington, who is not currently in police custody, was identified through witness statements and further investigation by HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Barton and A. Ledford. She reportedly fled the scene in a silver Nissan Armada with the Texas paper tags 4544E98 and now faces charges in the 184th State District Court.
The authorities have released a prior booking photo of Washington, also known as Shayla Monique Rugimbana, and are now appealing to the public for assistance.
