A teenage suspect is now behind bars, facing serious charges for his involvement in a deadly robbery-turned-shootout that occurred in early December. Jaydon Williams, 17, has been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, following a violent confrontation that left another teen dead and one wounded on Sherwood Lane.

According to the City of Houston News, the deceased has been identified as 15-year-old Joseph Barrios. The shooting, which unfolded around 2 a.m. on December 1, 2023, was the brutal culmination of an attempted robbery.

Houston Police Department's Homicide Division, consisting of Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective L. Lange, arrived at the scene to find Barrios, a juvenile, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department paramedics. A second male, also 17, was transported to an area hospital by private vehicle and is expected to make a recovery.

Investigations revealed a chilling account of the night; Barrios and Williams had allegedly set out to rob two individuals, aged 15 and 17. In a turn of violent events, the elder of the intended victims fired back at Barrios, hitting him, while Barrios managed to injure his attacker. "No one else was injured," as mentioned by the City of Houston News. Jaydon Williams has since been apprehended after fleeing the aftermath on foot.

The case took a crucial turn on January 2, when the Harris County District Attorney’s Office issued charges against Williams for his role in the fatal event. On January 10, HPD's Gang Division’s Crime Reduction Unit made the arrest, promptly escorting Williams to the Harris County Jail.
