An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last June at Lakeside Estates Drive in Houston. 18-year-old Adrian Marks has been charged with capital murder after the death of Dummene Kponi, 22, who was found shot numerous times in the driver's seat of his vehicle on June 7, 2023.
According to the Houston Police Department (HPD), the shooting took place during a purported transaction that rapidly escalated into a robbery. Marks, who is one of the four suspects alleged to have fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV, had been already in the Harris County jail on unrelated felony charges prior to being charged for his involvement in this latest incident. A statement from HPD mentioned that Marks was apprehended on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants K. Meek and J. Brooks together with Detectives S. Overstreet and C. Flora are credited with the ongoing investigation. Responding to an initial shooting call, patrol officers stumbled upon the grisly scene where Kponi lay mortally wounded.
The HPD has urged anyone with information on the three other suspects still at large to come forward. They've appealed to the public to reach out to the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or provide tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
