Houstonians grappling with the frosty grip of winter just received more to shovel off their driveways—altered trash collection schedules. The City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department announced a shift in its services due to inclement weather, leaving bins at the curb longer than usual. According to FOX 26 Houston, all trash collections were suspended today and facilities were closed, upending the week's routine for waste disposal.
Adjustments will see garbage collection and Heavy Tree Waste services lag by two days throughout the week. In a cold-induced jumble, recycling and yard waste collections for B-Week residents won't occur, leaving the remnants of once lush lawns in liminal spaces a bit longer. KHOU reports, the rescheduled rubbish run will resume on Wednesday, tackling Monday's routes first.
Revealing the new timetable, services set for Monday will instead be tackled on Wednesday, after facilities reopen, as reported by FOX 26 Houston. The sequence follows with today's routes nudged to Thursday, and so on, until the backlog clears on Saturday, laying the groundwork for the week ahead.
Saturday, the last day to catch a break before regaining normalcy, will witness Friday's routes being addressed, confirmed by KHOU. The much-anticipated regular schedule will be making a comeback starting Monday, January 22, dispelling the disarray bred by the arctic blast and reconnecting Houstonians with the familiar rhythm of clattering cans and waste management trucks rolling down their streets.
