Iconic San Francisco Store 'Stuff' Announces Closure, Liquidation Sale in Final FarewellSource: Google Street View

San Francisco's renowned vintage haven, Stuff, is shutting its doors on February 4, with a massive liquidation sale offering steep discounts on its eclectic inventory, spanning two expansive floors of midcentury furniture, art, and eccentric knick-knacks

The sale, announced on Stuff's Facebook page, expressed gratitude for its loyal customers and staff, and gave thanks to over 60 small businesses that have contributed to the store's diverse and ever-changing collection, urging the community to "Celebrate STUFF into the end Jan 31 2024."

Despite the looming closure, during a visit by SFGATE, the store was brimming with activity as patrons sifted through the inventory, and co-owner James Spinello, while juggling phone calls and assisting customers, described the varied discounts, explaining "Butch Grandma Vibes" is at 20% off. In comparison, other vendors have slashed prices up to 50%, though some deals reach up to 75% off.

The decision to close comes after unsuccessful negotiations with their landlord, a hardship Spinello shared in a tearful account to SFGATE, recalling "the most difficult year and a half of our lives," the closure also threatens to put an end to the operations of several vendors under Stuff's roof; this year has been hard on numerous Bay Area businesses, yet unlike others, Stuff is offering a goodbye to its community.

Located at 150 Valencia Street, Stuff will maintain its regular business hours until its final day, welcoming customers from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to find a piece of San Francisco's history before it fades away, as detailed in their Facebook announcement highlighting the CLOSING LIQUIDATION SALE.
