A young woman was found shot to death early Saturday inside a Lauderhill apartment, and police are now hunting for clues to bring her killer to justice. Regina Vidal, just 22, was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound inside her residence at the Newport at Lauderhill apartment complex. Said to have been alive just hours before, she was pronounced dead at the scene by Lauderhill Fire Rescue, as NBC6 reported.
In an outpouring of grief, friends of Vidal gathered at the crime scene soon after the police wrapped up their initial investigation, paying tribute with balloons, candles, and tears. Captured by 7News cameras, mourners were seen placing flowers, purple balloons, and a stuffed animal on Vidal's car, a somber reminder of the life abruptly ended.
While police have yet to float a motive or pinpoint any suspects in the shooting, neighbors have come forward with ominous details. They tell of regular quarrels emanating from Vidal's apartment, hinting at turmoil behind closed doors. Despite these insights, law enforcement has confirmed nothing, leaving those closest to Vidal seeking answers and justice for the life she once lived. The investigation remains open and active, with local authorities urging anyone with information to reach out to Broward County Crime Stoppers.
The identity of the shooter remains a mystery, while the apartment complex, now a crime scene, has been cordoned off. As terror and disbelief echo through the halls of the Newport complex, Regina Vidal is mourned by a community shaken by the violent rupturing of what should have been a haven. Anyone with information regarding this tragic incident is encouraged to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 (TIPS), according to a statement obtained by NBC6.
