Macomb County is leaping to fully transform its approach to inmate care with the construction of the Central Intake and Assessment Center (CIAC) Jail Project. A recent update from county officials indicates that the ambitious endeavor, designed especially for inmates with mental health issues, remains on schedule with its eyes set to open in 2027. "We are extremely pleased with the progress being made by the entire team involved with this project,” Hackel stated. Meanwhile, current facilities are set to soon be demolished, as around 78,000 square feet of infrastructure will be razed to make room for the touted center. The Sheriff's office expressed a strong commitment to ensuring the new facility aligns with the highest quality standards in inmate care.
