Yesterday, Chicago's streets witnessed the detainment of a man charged with a slew of felonies connected to a year-old robbery case. Ladarius Harris, 33, from the 5600 block of S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago, Illinois, was apprehended by Chicago Police Department officers and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. Harris faces serious allegations including armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, aggravated robbery indicating possession of a firearm, and one count of robbery.
It was the morning of January 30, when authorities caught up with Harris close to his residence, precisely a year after the reported crime occurred. In the incident, authorities claim that Harris threatened a 44-year-old man with a knife, robbing him in the 1500 block of W. Garfield Blvd. The victim, shaken but unharmed, was stripped of his personal belongings. According to a police department press release, "The offender was identified as the offender who took personal property at knifepoint from a 44-year-old male."
Harris's detention hearing is scheduled for today at the courthouse on 2600 S. California. The details surrounding the arrest have been sparse, with officials keeping cards close to their vest while the case unravels in court. Following the hearing, it is expected that more information will be released concerning this high-profile event.
The Chicago Police Department and the task force have yet to disclose further specifics regarding the arrest or the initial robbery incident but have assured the public that justice is on its course.
