A man was fatally shot following a heated argument outside Hard Rock Stadium after a Miami Dolphins game late Sunday. Miami Gardens Police Department reported to NBC6 that the shooting occurred near a shopping center on NW 27th Avenue, shortly before the stroke of midnight. Responding to the chaotic scene were officers, including Miami-Dade Police units who were providing chest compressions to the victim, in an attempt to save a life, but tragically, the man was declared dead.
As investigators roped off the area, one bystander recalled to NBC6 the overwhelming law enforcement presence, stating, "I just saw a lot of police and a lot of lights." The preliminary findings suggest a clash escalated quickly after the victim and friends, walking amid traffic post-game, entangled in a verbal confrontation with the alleged suspect. This altercation resulted in the suspect drawing a firearm, unleashing a deadly barrage, and subsequently escaping in an unknown direction, as per police statements.
Miami Gardens authorities have yet to disclose the identity of the deceased or announce any leads on potential suspects. The ongoing investigation casts a pall on what was an evening of competitive sportsmanship between the Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills, which wrapped up around 11:15 p.m. that Sunday.
