Firefighting units responded to a blaze on board a luxurious 85-foot yacht docked at Miami-Dade County's Williams Island Marina last Sunday, as heavy smoke and flames took over the front of the vessel. The incident, which kicked off reports of an explosion, saw Miami-Dade Fire Rescue teams arrive at around 6 a.m. to find the yacht ablaze, according to NBC Miami.
Firefighters aggressively tackled the inferno aboard the yacht, clearing the smoke and dousing the flames before they could consume the entire structure. "The fire allegedly prompted reports of an explosion in the area," a fact that could hint at the fire's intensity or origins.
Authorities stated there were no individuals aboard the maritime craft at the time of the incident, and thankfully, there were no injuries reported, as reported by Local 10 News.
As the first light of day broke over Aventura, the yacht in question, presumably worth a hefty sum, sat charred and soaked—a striking contrast to the usually idyllic setting of Williams Island Marina. The aftermath of this event leaves many unanswered questions, lingering like the smoke over the water, "The cause of the fire remains under investigation," officials told Local 10 News.
