A former Miami-Dade man accused of disseminating child sexual assault material has been apprehended after a probe that spanned several states, law enforcement officials reported. Pedro Manuel Miyares, age 40, was detained by Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents at Miami International Airport upon his return to South Florida, as Local 10 News detailed, now he faces 10 felony charges tied to the possession and distribution of the illegal content.
The investigation into Miyares' activities began in April of the previous year after a cyber tip-off from Synchronoss, a cloud storage service provider, indicated upload of concerning materials, Miyares who previously lived in West Kendall, became the focal point of a criminal inquiry that revealed at least 20 files, which included shocking footage of young girls being sexually abused, as young as 3 years old and the authorities, they continued to survey him, intercepting additional uploads—a troubling case that unveils the insidious cyber-trading of child abuse.
Undercover surveillance of Miyares' residence in March 2023 by local police flagged the presence of two girls, estimated to be between 7 and 9 years old, in his company, but their relationship to Miyares was not clarified in the released warrant. Further tips received by police led to the discovery of an additional 50 files linked to the suspect, and by July, Miyares had vacated his Florida residence with investigators tracking his relocation to Richmond, Texas, according to the FDLE statement shared on Twitter.
