Minnesota's beloved State Fair, known to many as "The Great Minnesota Get-Together," is freezing ticket prices for its 2024 event. According to CBS News Minnesota, attendees looking to enjoy the fair will not see a bump in the cost at the gates this year. Prices remain tagged at $18 for those aged 13 to 64, $16 for kids aged 5 to 12, and seniors 65 and older, while tots up to 4 years can walk through freely, mirroring last year's tariffs.
For those eager to fully embrace the early bird spirit, tickets have already gone on sale with a discount, dropping the cost to $15—a modest incentive designed to perhaps ease to eliminate the wait until the fair kicks off from Aug. 22 to Sept. 2. Renee Alexander, the fair's CEO, stated in a release obtained by CBS News Minnesota, "The Great Minnesota Get-Together is proud to be an annual tradition for so many Minnesotans, partly because a day at the fair is such an incredible value." She emphasized the fair's commitment to maintaining affordability whilst still pouring investments into enhanced experiences for guests and various facility upgrades.
Underscoring this commitment, fair organizers have earmarked a substantial investment for this year's event. A cool $10 million plus has been budgeted to refresh and improve the fair's infrastructure—an endeavor that encompasses a variety of projects announced during the annual meeting of the Minnesota State Agricultural Society. These improvements, FOX9 reports, include new windows and doors at the Fine Arts Center, Kidway upgrades, a new ticket office outside the Grandstand, and additional security enhancements.
Importantly, the fair's board of managers gave the green light to these projects, which also involve the installation of more fans in the horse barn and additional water fill stations—upgrades aimed to not simply increase, but to significantly enhance the comfort and convenience for all fairgoers. These developments come following a highly successful year where the fair drew in an attendance exceeding 1.8 million people, according to information from CBS News Minnesota.
