Minnetonka Police Department has bolstered its ranks with the addition of two new officers – Joey Chaffin and Eliana Welbes, who officially joined the force on January 2. Chaffin, who has a family history in law enforcement, came to Minnetonka after serving in the military and putting in three years at the Carver County Sheriff’s Office.
Officer Chaffin chose Minnetonka PD for its community support and positive work environment, as he said, "I chose Minnetonka because I had heard so many great things about the culture here, and the support from the community." He's also a self-proclaimed black coffee enthusiast and enjoys hunting and venturing into national parks with his spouse during his downtime, according to the City of Minnetonka.
Joining him in the new role at Minnetonka PD, Officer Welbes arrived with a varied background from her previous five-year stint in Hopkins where she served as a patrol officer and detective. Welbes has an affinity for problem-solving and finds camaraderie within the ranks. She expressed her enthusiasm for her new position, stating, "I’m excited to be working for an innovative department, that has many opportunities and a great department culture," as per the City of Minnetonka.
