When approached by the officer, the man fled to a nearby gas station parking lot where he allegedly brandished a gun and aimed it at the officer, prompting the officer to fire his weapon. "The man ran from the officer, pulled out a gun, and pointed it at the officer. The officer then shot the man," detailed a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. No officers were injured during the incident.

The wounded individual was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries while the recovered firearm at the scene has been held as evidence. Per ABC15, officials have not confirmed whether the suspect discharged his weapon during the altercation.
