The Phoenix Art Museum is all set to host PhxArt Amplified Vol. 3 on Saturday, promising a heady mix of music and culture in an innovative museum setting. Described as an "audio-visual experience," the event will feature live music performances sprawling across gallery spaces, sharing the spotlight with the museum's latest art exhibitions. The Men’s Arts Council at PAM is putting together this ambitious project, offering a high-concept alternative to the usual overcrowded music festivals.
After a pandemic-induced hiatus, the museum's doors are reopening to welcome the third edition of this festival. "We’re calling it an ‘audio-visual experience’ because not only are people going to hear all of these bands, they can also explore the museum and see all of our newer exhibitions," Giovana Aviles, the Men’s Arts Council’s curator of engagement, told Phoenix New Times. This year’s lineup boasts a plethora of musical talent, from Mexico City's indie rock sensation Little Jesus to the folk tones of NYC's own June McDoom. With over 50 local bands in the lineup, the event promises to be bigger than ever before.
Visitors to PhxArt Amplified Vol. 3 can also expect a variety of food vendors, specialty drinks, cocktails, and art-related activities all strung together in a festive and inclusive environment. Contributions from the Men’s Arts Council and Ultimate Playlist Powered by Arizona Lottery have made this event possible, with additional in-kind support from Zia Records, La Campesina 101.9, and Visit Phoenix.
PhxArt Amplified isn't just a feast for the ears and eyes—it's a community celebration emphasizing accessibility and sustainability, setting itself apart from typical festival offerings. From indie rock and electronic, to Latinx rhythms and Americana vibes, the event is curating an eclectic mix of sounds to resonate within the walls of the museum galleries. As Visit Phoenix notes, one-day-only visual-art installations, site-specific performances, and more are also on the roster, ensuring that art fans of all stripes find something to savor at this innovative event.
