Lena Sipres, a neighbor of the Espinosa family, has taken to frying bread at her residence near the corner of 7th Avenue and Broadway Road, to fundraise for the victim's funeral expenses, with the aromas of her cooking permeating the somber air, the very essence of community in action, despite the heart-wrenching circumstances. "When I heard everything at the front of my house, I couldn't help but to break down myself," Sipres told ABC15. Amid the pervasive grief, the Espinosa family's resilience shines, as evidenced by the return home from the hospital of Daniela's brother, who was shot in the foot during the same incident that claimed his sister's life.
According to a statement obtained by ABC15, the family has extended its silence on the tragic event due to safety concerns, though it was shared that the alleged shooter, a teenager, who had previously resided with them intermittently for a year, now faces murder and aggravated assault charges. Police claim the young suspect was "manipulating" a firearm inside the house when the fatal shots rang out, altering the lives of all involved irrevocably.
Described by loved ones as a caring, big-hearted person who adored music and sports, Daniela's unexpected death has left a void in the hearts of those who knew her.
