Travelers heading eastbound and westbound on I-8, be prepared for bottlenecks just east of the San Diego/Imperial County line, where one lane will be closed. Due to lane closures, even the smoothest drives may suddenly grind to a crawl. Additionally, officials have implemented one-way traffic control on SR-186 stretching from the Port of Entry to I-8, effectively cutting down the road to half its capacity during these periods.
The scheduled maintenance effort is critical for ensuring the safety and integrity of the region's transportation infrastructure. By performing regular maintenance, Caltrans aims to prevent larger disruptions and more severe damage in the long run. While the work is set to create temporary inconvenience, the outcome is intended to improve overall travel conditions for daily commuters, commercial transport, and periodic visitors alike.
For those who must travel through the affected areas, planning is key. Leave early, anticipate delays, and seek alternative routes if possible. Keep abreast of real-time traffic updates and heed traffic control instructions to minimize potential frustrations.
Caltrans appreciates the public's patience and advises to remain vigilant during these adjustments to their travel itinerary.
