San Marcos residents better brace for some driving disruptions next week. The city's streets will be clogged as Bent Avenue closes for paving. According to an X post by the City of San Marcos, the thoroughfare between Discovery Street and San Marcos Boulevard will shut down on Monday and Tuesday, causing congestion to the city's daily bustle.

While the main drag is off-limits, pedestrians can still trot the sidewalks, and Creekside Drive remains an open vein for local traffic. City officials have set up detour signs to guide motorists around the chaos. In a defiant plea for some semblance of traffic normalcy, they've suggested steering clear of the area altogether.
The rest of the week, and spilling into the next, will feature intermittent lane closures and flagging operations as workers add the finishing touches to the road. From Wednesday, Jan. 10 through Friday, Jan. 19, drivers can expect to navigate through a slalom of roadwork even though the road will technically remain open.
