A routine traffic stop in San Pablo escalated quickly when police encountered more than just reckless driving. According to the San Pablo Police Department, swing shift officers spotted a vehicle on Thursday making dangerous maneuvers through the city streets. The vehicle’s driver, already flagged by his history as a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of a loaded and illegal firearm. Under the restrictions accompanying his felony status, the individual is barred from owning or carrying weapons. The discovery led to his arrest on charges related to both the reckless driving, and the unlawful possession of a firearm.
Information released by the San Pablo Police Department on their official Facebook page detailed that the incident unfolded amidst the department's constant vigilance over the city. “A loaded illegal firearm was located inside the vehicle,” the Department reported, underlining the gravity of the situation police navigated during what began as a traffic-related intervention.
