
A teen boy was seriously injured in a shooting incident in south Minneapolis' Cedar-Riverside neighborhood, with police scrambling to the scene in the early hours of Sunday.
The Minneapolis Police Department reported that the altercation unfolded on the 1800 block of Fifth Street South around 12:45 a.m., where they discovered a 16-year-old male with injuries grave enough to threaten his life. The boy was quickly rushed to Hennepin Healthcare for treatment, while officers managed to arrest 35-year-old Ali Abdirashid Jama in connection with the act of violence.
CBS Minnesota stated that the shooting occurred following a dispute, during which the teenager allegedly shattered the window of Jama's vehicle, which escalated and resulted in the shooting.
According to a report by KSTP, University of Minnesota police contributed support to the Minneapolis Police Department during the incident, while forensic scientists from MPD processed the crime scene and evidence has been collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
