Five teenagers implicated in a series of brutal assaults shook the East Valley as they made their court appearance this week. Amid an alarming spike in teen violence, the suspects are facing accusations ranging from using brass knuckles in an attack to a death at a Halloween party - an incident marking the Queen Creek Police Department's first-ever homicide investigation.

According to 12News, Kyler Renner, 18, and Gage Garrison, 19 were arrested, alongside a 17-year-old for their alleged involvement in a violent incident that occurred in a downtown Gilbert parking garage back in December 2022. Court documents reveal that during their arrest, brass knuckles were found on Garrison.

The disturbing trend of youth violence in the area continues to come to light, following the death of 16-year-old Preston Lord after a Halloween party turned tragic. After a two-month delay between his death and the announcement of possible charges, the community is left peering into the growing abyss of teen-fueled brutality. As reported by 12News, the Queen Creek Police Department has recommended charges against seven people in Lord's death.

Adding to the string of crimes, two other teens, Christopher Fantastic, 18, and Aris Arredondo, 18, stood before the court for their alleged roles in an assault at the In-N-Out parking lot at San Tan Mall last August. Fantastic has pleaded not guilty to the charges he faces. On leaving the courtroom, when faced with inquiries from the media, Arredondo responded tersely, "F*** you, f*** you, I'm innocent."

Meanwhile, Gilbert Police Chief Michael Soelberg announced that the department is actively pursuing leads in 10 open investigations involving teen assailants, with 14 arrests made since the year began. "It is our hope, however" Soelberg said, "that these arrests will bring some level of healing for any victims of teen violence in Gilbert."
