A New Year's Eve accident turned tragic on Interstate 93 in New Hampton, New Hampshire, as a single-vehicle rollover ejected three out of five occupants, causing serious bodily injury and disarray. The incident occurred at around 4:51 p.m., December 31, and involved multiple passengers being hurled from the vehicle, initially sparking fears of a missing ejected infant, according to New Hampshire State Police Troop D.
In the aftermath of the rollover, Fire and Emergency Medical Services scrambled to administer lifesaving efforts to all occupants while responders prepared for the arrival of the DART Helicopter, which necessitated the shuttering of I-93 South for an interminable hour and a half. The victims of the accident, who have yet to be identified publicly, were then dispersed to four area hospitals with three clinging to life against the odds.
As the investigation into the cause of the crash continues, impairment has been preliminarily ruled out, this detail woven into the tapestry of chaos by law enforcement who combed the scene for hours post-crash. Even after reopening the interstate, the travel lane stood closed for an additional three hours while the State Police CAR Unit and other local emergency services including New Hampton Fire/EMS, Sanbornton Fire/EMS, and several other departments conducted an exhaustive roadside investigation.
The state patrol is now reaching out to the public for assistance, asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash to contact Trooper Griffin at [email protected] or call (603) 451-9313.
