Boston Basks in Sunshine as Late-Week Storms, Dangerous Rip Currents Loom

Boston starts Monday with clear skies and temperatures climbing through the upper 60s, setting up a sunny afternoon near 81 degrees. The calm, dry stretch will stick around for most of the week before rain chances return late Thursday and Friday.

Sunny Skies With A Breezy Afternoon

The National Weather Service expects southwest winds of 5 to 13 mph today, with occasional afternoon gusts reaching 20 to 25 mph. Any early patchy fog should burn off after sunrise, leaving generally clear conditions for the rest of the day.

Dry Weather Holds Through Wednesday

Tuesday looks much like Monday, with sunshine, a high near 81 and a low around 63 overnight. Wednesday should be sunny and slightly cooler, topping out near 80, while Thursday turns warmer with a partly sunny high near 83.

Rain chances increase Thursday night, when showers and a few thunderstorms could develop after 11 p.m. Friday brings a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high near 79, followed by mostly sunny and cooler conditions Saturday and Sunday.

Rip Current Risk Remains High At Some Beaches

The weather service has issued a high rip-current risk for south-facing beaches on Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket through Monday afternoon, with a moderate risk along parts of southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Beachgoers should check posted conditions, stay near lifeguards and avoid entering the water if warnings are in effect.
