Efforts by the Austin Fire Department led to the successful extrication of the pinned patient, as firefighters worked swiftly to free them. Running into delays, the Austin Fire Department advised local commuters to expect traffic disruptions in the area, detailed in a statement gathered by CBS Austin.
The injuries of the victims, who were then transported to two different medical facilities—one to Dell Seton Medical Center, and another to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center—were described as potentially serious as detailed in the CBS Austin report.
The names and ages of the individuals involved have not been made public at this time, and it is unclear what caused the driver to lose control and meet with the tree, casting a pall over Spicewood Springs Road.
