West Palm Beach was rocked by two fatal shootings on Tuesday. The first devastating incident took place at the Lake Mangonia Apartments on North Australian Avenue. Damien Davis, 34, was found dead, a victim of what police described as an execution-style shooting, as reported WPTV. His body was discovered in the passenger's side of a vehicle.

In a statement obtained by WPTV, a resident of the apartments, Nadia McKay, expressed her exhaustion with the rampant violence, "I've been here 14 years I'm tired. I have nothing else to lose. I don't want to live here anymore. I don't feel safe." Police spokesman Mike Jachles acknowledged the residents' concerns, saying, "This apartment complex is not foreign to West Palm Beach Police Department. Residents have voiced concerns. There have been concerns at neighborhood meetings, and our agency is committed to reducing crime and ensuring safety."

Within hours and merely a mile away, a second shooting took place at Ninth Street and Tamarind Avenue. James J. Miles, 47, was found shot to death in an apartment, according to the same WFLX report. Miles, reportedly a caretaker, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. A search warrant has since been executed at the property.

Miles' mother, Angela Brown, told WPTV reporter Joel Lopez, "I haven't heard anything from him since Christmas morning. I'm sad. ... He has been shot multiple shots and now he's dead." In both fatal incidents, authorities have not made any arrests as the investigations continue.
