A brazen midday theft led to a wild car chase in Niles on Tuesday when a stolen white Hyundai sped through a red light, nearly causing multiple accidents before crashing into another vehicle. Sheriff's Police witnessed the act while stationed at a red light and immediately took action. The driver, seemingly desperate to flee the scene, lost control, resulting in a collision that prompted all four occupants to escape on foot.
After rendering aid to the struck vehicle's driver, the officer quickly provided descriptions of the fleeing suspects to the Niles Police Department. "Our officer stopped to render aid to the driver of the hit vehicle while providing a description of the 4 individuals who were in the stolen Hyundai," reported the Cook County Sheriff's Office on Facebook. A perimeter was established by the authorities in a coordinated effort to apprehend the individuals recently freed from the mangled Hyundai.
The quick response and teamwork between the two police departments paid off. Within a short time frame after the crash, all four suspects were found and taken into custody. Their attempt to vanish into the suburban sprawl was halted by the law's persistent grasp.
As a consequence of their actions and the diligent work of the involved law enforcement agencies, charges have been filed against all four individuals involved in the incident.
