A Detroit woman, identified as 25-year-old Reanna Valentine, has been arrested for an attack on a 10-year-old girl at a popular shopping mall, police say.
The unsettling incident occurred last Friday at the Somerset Collection in Troy, where the young victim was pushed into a display case in what the authorities deemed an "unprovoked" assault. Caught on the facility's surveillance cameras, the footage helped troopers nab the assailant when she daringly returned to the scene of the crime the following day, FOX 2 Detroit reported.
According to the victim, after the attack, Valentine could be seen laughing and smiling at her, an act of mockery that only adds to the senselessness of the violence. The suspect was charged with assault and battery but was released on her recognizance with a tether, despite the serious nature of the allegations, as per CBS Detroit.
Embarking through the food court, the child was strolling alongside her father and friends, where the assailant took the opportunity to strike — slamming the poor girl's head forcefully into the glass with a gripped hand, the Troy Police reported. The witness statement given by the father matched the harrowing video evidence that recorded Valentine's abrupt and harsh actions. "The attack appeared unprovoked and for no apparent reason," the authorities described, as reported by Audacy.
