The incident was first reported Tuesday morning. Though it didn't directly involve the school premises, the proximity of the event was close enough to swiftly put Cypress Lakes High School, along with McFee Elementary School and Emery Elementary School, into a precautionary security mode. The community, which grapples now with the loss of a young life, is also confronting the harsh reality that the alleged perpetrator is barely older himself. "Deputies are on-scene at the 5800 blk of Brenwood Trails Ln in reference to a shooting involving what appears to be a male in his late teens or early 20s after a group was seen gathering at the location. The male has been pronounced deceased," Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated in a post obtained by Hoodline.
According to a witness statement, a group was seen congregating at the end of the street behind the high school before shots were fired. The authorities have been working to unravel the motive behind the shooting and the events that led up to it. FOX 26 Houston details how detectives are methodically scouring the scene for evidence to piece this tragic event together.
