A 16-year-old teen has been slapped with murder charges after the stabbing death of an 18-year-old man in a South Side apartment building on Wednesday evening in Washington Park, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. in the 700 block of East 60th Street where the victim was reportedly accosted by three individuals in the hallway, one of whom produced a knife and delivered a fatal stab wound to his chest. In a swift response taking roughly three hours post-incident, Chicago police apprehended the juvenile suspect and levied a trifecta of charges including first-degree murder, forcible felony murder, and armed robbery.
The young man sustained grave injuries in the scuffle and, despite the frantic efforts of first responders who rushed him to the University of Chicago Medical Center, succumbed to the stab wound. Fox 32 Chicago reported that no arrests had initially been made in the wake of the crime as detectives delved into the details seeking answers and suspects.
The Chicago Police Department, which remains tight-lipped about the ongoing investigation, is pressing forward to unearth further clarity in what led to the violent exchange.
