A 16-year-old male juvenile has been slapped with a series of felony charges stemming from a deadly car accident in April of last year that claimed the life of an infant and severely injured a woman, Chicago police stated.
The teenager, whose name has not been disclosed due to his minor status, is facing one count of reckless homicide involving a motor vehicle, another for aggravated reckless driving causing bodily harm, and an additional charge for handling a stolen vehicle. These grave accusations come after authorities, including the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, managed to track down and arrest the alleged perpetrator in the South Side of Chicago on Thursday.
According to a statement released by the Chicago Police Department, the fatal collision that took a 6-month-old boy's life occurred on the 4400 block of W. Washington. In that tragic incident, the accused was reportedly behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle, traveling with such reckless abandon he ran a red light and collided with another car. The impact resulted in the death of the infant and severe injuries to the 34-year-old woman driving the other car.
