
An 88-year-old man from Kenosha has died and a 46-year-old Machesney Park man was injured after a two-car crash in unincorporated Woodstock early Thursday morning. According to CBS Chicago, the collision took place around 7:40 a.m. on Charles Road.
The elderly man, driving a 2000 Lincoln Town Car heading westbound, lost control and swerved into the eastbound lane, colliding head-on with a 2014 Hyundai. Both vehicles, after the impact, ended up off the road, officials said. Not having any passengers, the driver of the Hyundai only suffered minor injuries and was treated at the crash site.
First responders from McHenry County Sheriff's deputies and Woodstock Fire Department rushed to the scene following the accident. In a serious condition, the Lincoln driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and the vehicle's airbags had deployed, was taken to Northwestern Hospital McHenry. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital, as per the Fox32 Chicago report.
The survivor, driving the Hyundai, also had his seat belt on and benefitted from airbag deployment, ensuring his escape with less significant injuries, the office noted. After being released at the site, no additional details regarding his condition were revealed.
No further information regarding the cause of the accident or identities of those involved were provided as the incident remains under investigation.
