Arizona State University (ASU) has carved out a prestigious spot for itself among global institutions recognized for cultivating highly employable graduates, ABC15 reports. The recent Global Employability University Ranking & Survey (GEURS) has placed ASU at the 34th position worldwide, an acknowledgment that highlights the consistent output of ready-to-hire Sun Devils.
Maintaining its position from last year, ASU stands out as the lone representative from Arizona on the list, now in its 13th year; it ranks at No. 13 among US institutions and takes the second seat among public US universities, following the University of California, Berkeley, which is sitting at No. 21, the survey presented an encompassing list that spanned 250 schools globally surveying a panel of corporate managers who, in turn, cast votes indicating up to ten university names for their employability performance from a larger directory of over a thousand institutions, and they must argue their choices referencing a six-parameter maximum from a standardized list of 35 determining factors.
These managers' expert opinions formed the basis of the rankings, with criteria revolving around graduate skills and adaptability in the professional world, per Business Journal. It seems Amazon, Intel, and Banner Health, among other industry giants, have found a thriving recruitment ground in ASU's alumni pool.
"You cannot attribute ASU’s success to any one factor," Anthony Cortright, ASU's director of career and professional development services, confessed in a proverbial tip of the hat to the multifaceted strategy of the university—ASU was hailed for tailoring programs that align with the evolving demands of the workforce of the 21st century they've forged robust alliances with leading corporate entities across various sectors, and their focus on experiential learning alongside entrepreneurship sets the institution apart because it grants students the essential practical experience and real-world skills that are highly sought after in the job market today.
This approach has evidently paid dividends, fostering ASU's estimable standing in the eyes of both employers and educational observers while securing the future of its students, "All of these factors contribute to ASU's positive reputation and high rankings in employability and ultimately help ASU students succeed in their careers," Cortright told Business Journal. Indeed, the 2024 iteration of the survey drew widespread participation, with input from over 11,500 respondents across 21 countries, according to GEURS, suggesting a broad consensus on the quality of workforce being nurtured within ASU's dynamic academic environment.
