In a remarkable display of police work, a missing 12-year-old child was found safe after a tireless search by Auburn police officers and their four-legged companion late Wednesday night. As per an announcement on the Auburn Police Department's Facebook page, the child, who had been missing for several hours, was located thanks to the keen senses of a police K9 named Biza.
The young resident had been reported missing around 8:30PM, after last being seen in the Pakachoag Hill area of Auburn. As the chilling night descended, concerns escalated given the freezing temperatures. A search party comprising numerous Auburn Police Officers and State Police Troopers was rapidly assembled. Included in the search were detectives from the Auburn Police Department who responded with urgency amidst the potentially life-threatening conditions.
Officer Ljunggren and K9 Biza joined the effort and swiftly took to the trail. Demonstrating the prowess honed through rigorous training, Biza managed to lock onto the missing child's scent which led authorities over a strenuous two-mile expanse. The dog’s tracking abilities were instrumental in leading police to evidence indicating the recent presence of the child.
The focused efforts of Biza and the assembling officers culminated as they converged upon an area pinpointed by the dog's tracking. Here, their dedication bore fruit—the child was located not long after, bringing a wave of relief to anxious family and community members. The youngster was reunited with their family, safely ending what could have been a tragic ordeal.
