Barkbus Brings Luxury Mobile Dog Grooming to Houston Neighborhoods, Expanding Texas FootprintSource: Facebook/Barkbus

Barkbus, the mobile dog grooming company known for its doorstep services, rolls into Houston. According to a Houston Chronicle report, come Thursday, pet owners in Bellaire, the Heights, Memorial, Montrose, and West University can expect Barkbus to arrive, offering a variety of grooming services without the hassle of leaving their driveways.

Founded in Los Angeles in 2017, this move by Barkbus comes on the heels of an expansion into Dallas last year. The Houston Chronicle states that the city's staggering dog-to-person ratio, allegedly the world's highest, coupled with approximately 1.2 million dogs in the area, makes Houston an attractive market for the grooming service that prides itself on convenience and luxury. Jeff Safenowitz, co-founder and CEO of Barkbus, conveyed through an emailed statement, "Our state-of-the-art luxury vans (or mobile ‘spaws’ as we like to think of them) come directly to your home and groom each dog right in the van."

Barkbus has signaled that Dallas neighborhoods such as Lake Highlands and Lakewood are next in line on its grooming map starting in April. Reporting by Community Impact states that the decision to include these locales stems from the high dog ownership stats in Dallas, where roughly 41% of households own at least one dog. With services like baths, brushing, teeth and ear cleanings, and breed-specific styling, Barkbus's aim is to "end traumatic trips to the salon and provide a superior mobile grooming experience."

In terms of cost, those looking to treat their canine companions can expect to shell out anywhere from $130 to upwards of $350, with a variety of grooming packages available. In his statement, which appeared in the Houston Chronicle, Safenowitz emphasized the demand for the service in Houston, saying, "Once we launched in Dallas we received tons of inbound inquiries about serving Houston as well and we decided to scale up as fast as possible to meet the surge in demand. Houston is a city that loves its dogs as much as we do and we are excited to be here." With an easy booking process accessible through the company's website, text, or phone, Barkbus seems poised to drive its luxury grooming services into Houston's pet care market.
