On a typical afternoon at a local laundromat, a not-so-typical incident unfolded with Bedford police actively seeking a suspect. According to a post by the Bedford Police Department, at around 3 p.m. on February 9, an individual at the La Bonita Wash & Dry on Brown Trail was approached by a man requesting a ride to a nearby gas station.
The unsuspecting good Samaritan agreed to help and drove the man to Wal-Mart on Hwy. 121. In what seems to quickly have turned from an act of kindness to a harrowing robbery, the suspect then brandished a knife and forced the driver to quickly vacate their vehicle. "The person drove him to Wal-Mart at 4101 Hwy. 121, where the suspect pulled a knife on the driver, telling him to get out of the car," detailed the Bedford Police Department in their statement acquired by their official Facebook page. The suspect succeeded thereafter abscond with the victim's car, which has since been located in Fort Worth.
Bedford Police are now appealing to the public for their help in identifying the man responsible for this bold daytime carjacking. They have provided a case number, 2024-000476, for those who may have information pertinent to the case. Authorities emphasize that no piece of information is too small or irrelevant in aid to apprehend the suspect and to potentially prevent future incidents of a similar vein.
Bedford PD has urged anyone with information to reach out by calling their non-emergency line at 817-952-2127 (Option 3). "If you have any information, please call the Bedford Police Department's non-emergency line," the Bedford Police Department appealed in their Facebook announcement, demonstrating hope that community members may be key in solving this crime.
