A 1-year-old girl has been pronounced dead following an alleged family dispute in Bibb County, Georgia, that culminated in the early hours of Valentine's Day. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is now piecing together the circumstances that led to this heartbreaking outcome.
After responding to a disturbance call just after midnight at the 3800 block of Flamingo Drive, deputies found an injured woman identified as Janet Dorn, as reported by FOX5 Atlanta. The woman, who was injured during a violent altercation, was the grandmother of the child and told deputies that her granddaughter had been taken by the child's father after he assaulted her.
The suspect, 19-year-old Akiem Jamal Jordan, along with 20-year-old Rahem Devar Ferrell, was later located in a white vehicle with the child on the 2000 block of Old Clinton Road. Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced the 1-year-old deceased at the scene. Both Jordan and Ferrell have been arrested and are facing murder charges, reported WSB-TV.
Found holding his unresponsive daughter when deputies arrived was Jordan. Ferrell has been charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault, while Jordan is facing murder and three counts of aggravated assault charges. "Be On The Lookout" alerts were issued earlier for the suspects and the white vehicle they were spotted in. The deceased child's grandmother is now in stable condition after being transported to a medical facility for treatment.
