A Boca Raton man was handed a twelve-year prison sentence for a DUI crash that killed one man and injured others in 2021. Christopher Gallon, 27, will also face a lifetime ban from holding a driver's license in Florida, reported BocaNewsNow.com.
The crash, which took place on August 3, 2021, resulted in the death of 21-year-old David Hernandez. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Gallon was speeding in his Toyota Corolla, did not fully stop at the intersection of Camino Del Mar and Palm D Oro Road. A catastrophic collision occurred when his vehicle hit a Nissan Rogue attempting a left turn in front of him. The impact sent Gallon's car careening onto the grass, where it overturned, "BocaNewsNow.com" detailed.
Following the tragedy, Gallon was convicted in December of DUI manslaughter, DUI causing injury, and reckless driving, as announced by the sheriff’s office. In the catastrophic event, not only did Hernandez perish, but both drivers and three additional passengers sustained minor injuries, CBS12 News recounted the incident.
As per the sheriff’s office report, "Christopher Gallon was heading south on Camino Del Sol, approaching the intersection of Palm D Oro Road, at a high rate of speed. David Hernandez was a passenger in the car — A Toyota Corolla," CBS12 noted. Gallon had not been assigned a facility by the Florida Department of Corrections, as of Saturday morning, February 24, 2024, the publications confirmed.
