A-1 Community Service Office of the Boston Police Department joined forces with Mayor Michelle Wu for a festive romp in Boston Common. The Children’s Winter Festival, taking place on Wednesday, lured families out of their warm homes with the promise of an action-packed day.
The event, detailed on the Boston Police Department's website, was a smorgasbord of family-friendly fun park rangers rode in on their majestic horses, firefighters let kids get a close-up look at their engine, and despite the nip in the air, an ice cream table managed to become a crowd favorite. There was more, a bouncy house and train rides, for those looking to bounce or choo-choo their way through the day.
Mayor Wu was joined by the Parks and Recreation Department and the Highland Street Foundation to host the affair, which treated kids to a spread of sweets and giveaways. Smiling faces were a common sight as tykes enjoyed a maze, a towering slide, and melodies from live performers weaving a soundtrack for their smiles and cheers.
The Blue Man Group turned up, painting the scene with their unique brand of zest and color.
