Early Saturday morning, a man’s alleged attempt to break into a downtown building ended in a foot chase and his arrest. The Boston Police Department reports that officers from District A-1 arrested 24-year-old Calvin Feeney of Douglas on charges related to an attempted break-in.
The incident began around 7 AM, on Cooper Street and Lynn Street, when officers responded to a call of someone ascending a fire escape ladder. Police were informed by Boston Police Operations of a suspect wearing all black, including a ski mask, officers quickly spotted the individual on the fire escape on Thatcher Street.
Authorities ordered Feeney to descend the ladder, but he instead tried to make an escape back up it. According to a statement from Boston Police, he was then seen jumping down as the fire escape led to another street. Police gave chase on foot before eventually handcuffing the suspect.
Feeney now faces multiple charges, including attempted breaking and entering in the daytime, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest. He was taken into custody and is slated for arraignment at Boston Municipal Court. The attempted break-in and subsequent chase come as a reminder of the vigilance of the city's police force in preventing crime, and apprehending those who attempt to disrupt the peace.
