
A 56-year-old Chicago man has been charged in connection with a midday armed robbery that occurred last summer, targeting a young woman, the Chicago Police Department announced.
Cedric Dupree, of the 7300 block of S. Dante Avenue, is facing one felony count of robbery armed with a firearm for the incident, which took place on June 23, 2023, Chicago police stated. According to authorities, Dupree is accused of stealing property from a 25-year-old female at gunpoint, around 1:50 p.m., on the 7700 block of S. Ridgeland Avenue in the city's 4th District.
The suspect was apprehended yesterday, February 9, near the 4900 block of S. Chicago Beach Drive and taken into custody by the Chicago Police. Dupree's detention hearing is scheduled for today at 2600 S. California.
No further details have been released at this time, the police department noted. Additional information, regarding the circumstances of the robbery or the manner of the investigation that led to Dupree's arrest, remains undisclosed.
