The Chicago Police Department has issued an alert, requesting the public's assistance in apprehending an armed suspect linked to multiple incidents in the 9th District. The crime alert made public on February 7th, pinpoints eight robberies, all sharing a similar pattern of a lone gunman targeting individuals on the street and demanding cash from businesses.
The crimes, primarily executed on foot, occurred near Loomis Boulevard, Throop Street, and Ashland Avenue. The police specified the incidents transpired in the late evening hours, possibly taking advantage of the night's concealment. The series of crimes began on January 12, 2024, and continued through the month, with the most recent robbery reported on February 1. The suspect, described as a Male Black Offender, donned a skull cap and "Harry Potter-style glasses," and is said to be armed with a distinctive two-tone handgun.
Law enforcement's description paints a picture of the offender as a medium-built man, between 150 and 160 pounds, and wearing black pants. He stands anywhere from 5'8" to 6'1" tall and is estimated to be in his 20s to 30s. The absence of a getaway vehicle suggests that the suspect operates alone and on foot. Authorities are urging anyone with information that might lead to an arrest to come forward and help put a stop to the string of thefts.
