The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is set to boost local business engagement with a new outreach initiative aimed at pairing Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) and small businesses with prime contractors for upcoming transit projects. Slated to kick off on February 15 at Wright College, the program seeks to bolster subcontracting opportunities and promote equitable growth.
Diverse businesses are encouraged to now quickly register to explore partnering options on major CTA endeavors, including the Red Line Extension and the All Stations Accessible Program. "Equity in public transit is at the heart of CTA’s mission," said JuanPablo Prieto, Director of Diversity Programs at CTA, in a statement published on their website. The event opens its doors at 9:45 a.m. with a presentation commencing at 10:15 a.m.
Interested small and disadvantaged business leaders can register online for the event. The CTA has outlined a series of outreach events in assistance of DBE-certified firms and other small businesses, ensuring continued opportunities even after the commencement of the project.
For those seeking to participate in the construction industry, the CTA is to also host various events aiming to connect career-seekers with resources. Further details can be gleaned from CTA’s Diversity Programs page and inquiries directed to their dedicated email.
