In the wake of these incidents, a community alert has been issued, highlighting a series of aggressive muggings perpetrated by a group of armed individuals.
The pattern is unsettling with each episode unfurling in a similar fashion. Victims have been accosted on the streets by 3 to 4 males, who threatened violence before fleeing with stolen possessions. Reports detail that the robberies occurred across various locations, starting from the 1500 block of W. Ardmore and stretching to the 2600 block of W. Albion, all taking place on February 18, 2024, between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 11:50 p.m., with an additional incident occurring on February 19, 2024, at 1:30 p.m.
The Chicago Police Department has released descriptions of the offenders, based on the witnesses' accounts. The individuals in question are described as Black males, aged between 18-25, clad in dark clothing and face coverings, with one perpetrator notably donning a white face mask. They are said to be using a dark or black colored four-door sedan as their means of escape.
