San Diego's skyline is gearing up for a new addition as Cresleigh Homes gears up to break ground on "Revel," a 40-story residential high-rise slated for early 2025, according to a Times of San Diego report. Perched right next to Petco Park at 611 Island Ave, the building is poised to introduce 443 homes in studio to three-bedroom formats to the heart of downtown. Merging modern style with historical reverence, the design by local firm Carrier Johnson maintains the historic façade of the storied 1869 Klauber-Wangenheim Company Building.

Jeremy Lui, Cresleigh's director of development, declared their vision is to indulge residents in the best downtown San Diego offers, like convenience and energy, “Our vision is for our residents to revel in all things that make downtown great by offering a blend of convenience, energy, and community in a project that contributes to achieving San Diego’s climate action goals,” he told Times of San Diego. Not only designed to meet the needs of families and local workers, but the project is also pushing for a shift in transportation habits by providing a limited amount of on-site parking with Electric Vehicle (EV) charging capabilities, acknowledging the increasing adoption of alternative means like ride-sharing and public transit.

Backed by a website promoting the new sleek tower, www.revelresidences.live, Revel is portrayed as the epitome of urban living—it's set to bring a sophisticated living experience to downtown dwellers, especially those entwined with the bustling Gaslamp Quarter's work-play milieu. The development promises to integrate seamlessly into downtown's fabric, providing residents a lifestyle steeped in convenience and modernity.

Housing options aside, the high-rise will also tout a roster of communal amenities, including a rooftop terrace, a 50-foot swimming pool and a separate hot tub, which by any San Diegan's standards screams luxury amid the cityscape, Lui said that the initiative is not only about housing, “We are focused on promoting a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle,” as residents will have access to secure bike storage for e-bikes and scooters, bolstering what the company sees as a shift from car dependency to a more urbanized mindset. As part of its eye-catching features, local artistic talent will be showcased with a 50-foot by 10-foot piece adorning the lobby, reflecting San Diego's cultural flair. Aiming for LEED Silver certification, the Revel project is not just another building but a nod to environmental consciousness and urban design.
