A Douglasville police officer is fighting for life after a serious car crash in Carroll County yesterday. The early morning accident left the officer critically injured when their patrol car veered off the road and slammed into a power pole, as Georgia State Patrol reported.
The crash occurred on State Road 61 near State Road 166, where the officer was traveling south in a marked patrol vehicle, Georgia State Patrol informed 11Alive navigating a curve when for an as of yet unknown reason it went off the road and made a head-on collision with the pole, emergency crews arrived and managed to extricate the officer from the wreckage and swiftly transported them to Grady Memorial Hospital.
The identity of the officer has not been disclosed as the investigation into the crash continues, the officer's condition was last listed as critical, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Georgia State Patrol has not ruled out weather as a contributing factor and the incident remains under scrutiny.
