A family in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, has been left with nothing after their home was engulfed by a devastating fire on Sunday. The blaze was reported around 12:12 p.m. at 53 Old Bedford Road, according to NBC Boston. A good Samaritan alerted the occupants after spotting the flames, enabling everyone inside to escape without injury, including a woman, her husband, their son, and their dog. However, several pet cats are still missing.

The fire ravaged the two-story, L-shaped home rapidly, and firefighters from multiple neighboring towns responded to the scene after an emergency call was placed. Issues with a fire hydrant presented a challenge in establishing a water supply for firefighting efforts. The residence was deemed a total loss and had to be torn down the same day, as stated in a report by Boston 25 News.

Residents of Old Bedford Road have expressed deep concern for the Adao family and another woman who lived on the other side of the duplex. After the fire, the four displaced individuals are now receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. The East Bridgewater Fire Department remained on the scene to address any remaining hot spots and to continue the investigation into what may have caused the fire. No injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation.
